Description
Black and White in a Grey World is the third album by the American singer and songwriter Leslie Phillips (aka Sam Phillips), released on Myrrh Records in 1985, a division of Word. Also manufactured and distributed by A&M Records. The album was recorded by Dennis McKay, Dan Garcia, and Rick Riggeri at various studios in California – Bill Schnee Studios in North Hollywood, Goldmine Recording Studios in Ventura, Redwing Studios in Tarzana, and Wayne Cook Studios in Glendale – with Dan Posthuma producing. Mixed by Bill Schnee. Arranged by Dann Huff, Alan Pasqua, John Andrew Schreiner and Rhett Lawrence. All songs written by Leslie Phillips except “Smoke Screen” co-written with Daniel Brown.

Note: Simultaneously released on cassette, 12-inch vinyl LP, and CD by Myrrh Records, with the CD edition featuring two bonus tracks; “Larger Than Life” and “Love Is Not Lost” (the latter track is not the same version as featured on Leslie Phillip’s 1987-album The Turning). The Australian vinyl edition also features the two bonus tracks. An edited, shorter version of “When The World Is New” (3:54) was released as a 7-inch vinyl single, b/w “Psalm 55” (3:48).
